Founder, Dr. John W. Epes |
These white cliffs are located on the Tombigbee River at Epes, AL. They are part of the Selma Chalk formations which were deposited at about the same time as England’s famous White Cliffs of Dover. Dr. John W. Epes donated land to Sumter County if the railroad agreed to name the station for him. Southern Railroad (now AMTRAK) was a major commercial and distribution hub for the area. |
