Mayor Porter believes in advancing the Town of Epes through increased businesses, improvement of its infrastructure, and increasing the quality of life for our youth and senior citizens. He attended East Central Community College where he trained in auto body repair; he owns Porter’s Auto Body Shop. He and his wife, Deborah, are members of Jones Creek Baptist Church and avid Auburn Tigers fan. His goals for Epes include a Senior Citizen Activity Center and an after-school program for students.
Mrs. Betty Brown is retired from Tuskegee University where she worked in administration for the Alabama Cooperative Service. She is a lifelong resident of Sumter County and attends Miller Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies include reading, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her family. One of her goals for Epes is to provide more activities for our senior citizens.
Mr. Williams, the newest member of the town council, is a graduate of The University of West Alabama where he earned a BS in Business. He is retired from the Alabama Army National Guard and from Mercedes-Benz USI. He and his wife, Deborah, have a precious granddaughter, Gabby. He is a member of York Baptist Church, and his hobby is farming. His goal for the town is to see it thrive and prosper. His favorite sports teams are the Crimson Tide and Gabby’s T-Ball team Tiny Tornadoes.
Mr. Walker has served on the Town Council for 5 years. He is a graduate of Sumter County Training School and is retired from Mannington Mills where he was the Production Manager. Since his retirement, he has more time for his hobby – fishing. He and his wife, Jeannette, attend First Baptist of Epes. A lifelong resident of Epes, Mr. Walker would like to see more jobs development in our area. He also supports a truck plaza near the interstate.
